Book of Gold
Chelsea Flower Show 1999. Gold Medal Award
The garden was designed to promote peace for all cultures.
It has a central theme of a long reflective water body surrounded by palms and indigenous plants native to the hot desert sun. At the head, and proud of the water body, is a single piece of white Carrara marble inlaid with black granite bearing a 22-carat gold leaf transcription.
Portland slabs of stone create a step down into the still water.
Four hand-wire-worked arbours enables the observer to seat in quiet contemplation.
