Telstar House, London
This is a high profile commercial development located near Paddington Station in London.
This projects entailed both a roof terrace areas and external ground level areas around the building. CFA worked with Fletcher Priest Architects to develop a high quality soft landscape scheme.
The main roof terrace had to address the views out from the offices whilst also providing usable space for various office functions. The roof garden layouts were designed for the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors with the design approach throughout using a consistent pallet of materials and common language of detailing.
The brief was to use sustainable materials throughout. Timber was chosen as the main material to form planters and was also used form areas of decking. The decking areas alternate with bands of hard paving. Timber seating and tables were provided for use by all staff. The design needed to be simple and robust so it would withstand daily use by staff. Planting consisted of two varieties of ornamental grasses to provide for a low maintenance landscape scheme. The boundary planting consisted of the red stemmed Cornus. Low level lighting was incorporated into the planter walls throughout all three terraces.
